Artwork by: Cindy Adelle Richard

Hello! My name is Cindy Adelle Richard, and welcome to Adelle Circa 1920. I will start by explaining what the name Adelle Circa 1920 means. Adelle is my middle name, and it fits perfectly with the time period I love the best — the 1920s. I included circa because the things I tend to love were invented or produced around or about 1920.

I’ve been blogging for about 9 years, and after reviewing my content over time I realized that I tend to blog about my journey as an artist. I started my pursuit of being a writer in 2007, and eventually added illustration in 2015 after taking a few classes related to drawing. I’ve been working on both areas in dribs and drabs around the margins of my fulltime career, and as a result, it is has been challenging to find my focus. Now, I am finally working on an illustrated journaling project about a young black mage living in Paris during the 1920s which I am really enjoying and hope to publish one day.

I included a list of my favorite things so you can get to know me a little better: astrology, tarot, Paris, reading books, art, day trips, dark chocolate, creative podcasts, graphic novels, peacocks, nature, “Paris” tea, antiquing and browsing novelty shops, brunch, Autumn, quaint small towns, and rabbits.

Now that is enough about me – let’s talk about how I can help you. While I’ve been pursuing my art career, I’ve been working in the field of career counseling. I’ve amassed a lot of knowledge and inspiration as a result, and I figured I can share this information via this blog to help other artists and creatives to pursue their dreams.

The topics I tend to write about include:

  • creative projects and studio updates
  • inspiration, reading, and artist dates
  • managing a day job + an art career
  • spirituality, well being, and mindfulness
  • musings about personality and psychology

Thank you for taking the time to visit Adelle Circa 1920. You can also connect with me in the following ways:

    • I read an excerpt from your story about the speakeasy – very interesting; I would love to read more. I have not published yet but I am currently working on getting some things published – I will be sure to share them when I do.

I am in the process of getting some originals in print and maybe greetings cards. No info on that yet but thought you might be interested.
